BIOGRAPHY


Natalie Darwitz (born October 13, 1983 in Eagan, Minnesota) is an American ice hockey player. She won a silver medal at the 2002 Winter Olympics and a bronze medal at the 2006 Winter Olympics.

In 2004-2005, Natalie attend the Unversity of Minnesota where she won back-to-back NCAA Ice Hockey Championships. While at Minnesota, Natalie was a three-time All American, three-time finalist for the Patty Kazmaier award, left school with the career scoring mark at Minnesota in three years and set two NCAA single-season record with 114 points (42g,72a) and most assists in 40 games in her final season.

In 2006-07 she played in the Western Women’s (Pro) Hockey League for the Minnesota Whitecaps and was named league MVP.

She was an assistant coach with the womens hockey team for the 2007-2008 season at Eagan High School where they got their first state championship berth in four years.

Darwitz was team Captain of 2008 IIHF World Champions and member of the 2005 World Champions. In all she earned 7 consecutive medals at the IIHF World Championship (1999-2001, 2004, 2005, 2007 & 2008), named the Best Forward at the 2008 IIHF World Championship & led the tournament in scoring.

Natalie has won numerous awards during her Ice Hockey career including the Bob Johnson Award as the Best Male/Female athlete for excellence in International competition in 2008, the Bob Allen Women’s Player of the Year award from USA Hockey and Most Outstanding Player of the 2005 NCAA Frozen Four. She scored the game winning championship goal with under a minute to play in her final collegiate game.

Outside of her professional career, Natalie runs Darwitz Hockey for boys & girls (ages 5-11) in the Minneapolis/St Paul area every summer. Off the ice, enjoys surfing in Southern California, boating on the lakes of Minnesota and eating her dad’s cheeseburgers or on the road at In-N-Out.
