BIOGRAPHY

Zachary Justin Parise (born July 28, 1984, in Minneapolis, Minnesota) is a professional ice hockey player with the New Jersey Devils.

Parise was drafted 17th overall (1st round) in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft by the New Jersey Devils. His father J.P. Parise is a retired ice hockey player and his brother Jordan Parise is currently a goaltender on EC Red Bull Salzburg of the Austrian Hockey League.

Parise was the MVP of the 2004 IIHF World Junior Championship, won by the United States.
He is a natural center but currently plays left wing for the New Jersey Devils on the second line with teammates Travis Zajac and Jamie Langenbrunner, which is commonly referred as the PLZ line, or ZZ Pop (ZZ for Zach and Zajac, Pop for Langenbrunner, the vet on the line) by Devils fans.

On November 30, 2007, in a game against the Montreal Canadiens, Parise got his first National Hockey League natural hat trick. He also holds the Devils franchise record for the fastest goal in a season-opening game, which he did just 26 seconds into the 2006–07 NHL season opener. On April 28, 2008, it was announced that Parise had been named an alternate captain of the 2008 U.S. Men’s National Team in the 72nd annual International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship.

Parise made his first All-Star appearance at the 2009 All-Star game in Montreal, Quebec, in which he scored a goal.
